Faces in the Crowd was designed to have fun with those digital photos we all have lying about the place. Users can upload digital photos of concerts, parties, amusement parks, family events, pets or any funny picture. Other users can then search/view those images and add a sticky note right on top of it for everyone to see. They can also add comments and a starred review. There’s probably a lot more we can do, but for now we’re just keeping it simple. And, of course, it’s free. Isn’t everything these days? 🙂 Here’s how it goes:
Step 1: Set up an account
If you want to upload photos and add sticky notes to your own and to other’s photos, first set up an account. Once that’s done, you can add notes or comments to other users’ photos. Or, go onto the next step and upload your own.
Step 2: Click Post a Pic in main nav
Once your account is set up, click on the Post a Pic link in the main nav. On that page, you will see a form where you can title your post, add some brief content (see examples already on the site) and then add a photo under it. You can also choose a picture to be used for the thumbnail (Featured Image) on the site. If you don’t, the system will do it for you based on the image you added to your content.
Step 3: Add sticky notes
Once your post has been approved by our team (to keep the scary or illegal stuff out), you can then locate it on the site. In any list where it appears, click on its title like you would for any news story to view it. If you want to add a sticky note on it, you have two options (see image below): you can click and drag a square area around a part of a picture and just add a simple note under it; or you can click and add a “spot”. Spots have several more options, including title, description, link, colors, size and social sharing.
